Web Site
The Web Master reported that the web site had suffered an attack
and had been down for a couple of weeks. It has now been recovered and
upgraded and is available again. The web site is now being hosted so it’s
hoped a similar attack will not happen again
Table Top Quiz
At the last meeting, the Committee agreed to adopt Trevor Ford’s
proposal for the structure of the C League Table Top quiz but the Chairman
advised that there should be a specific and laid out format which everyone
agreed with and could be related to the teams before the quiz. A discussion
took place around the proposed format and it was finally agreed that the
format of the table top quiz would be as follows. The quiz shall consist of
five rounds of which Rounds 1 and 5 shall be team rounds, Round 2 shall be
an Individual Pot Luck round, Round 4 shall be a Specialist Individual round
and Round 3 shall be a Team Written round. Round 1 will consist of 20
questions made up of 15 major sport and 5 general sport questions. The
questions shall be asked by a Question Master and thirty seconds shall be
given for the teams to write down their answer. At the end of the thirty
seconds the next question shall be asked and the process repeated until the
end of the 20 questions. At the end of the thirty second duration of the
last question, the round is at an end and no further answers shall be given.
A question may be repeated during the original thirty seconds but shall not
be repeated thereafter so teams may not request a repeat of a question at
the end of the round. Round 5 will consist of 25 questions made up of 15
major sport and 10 general sport questions with the same rules applying as
Round 1. Round 2 shall be an Individual Round where one member of each team
in a nominated order will approach the Question Master and receive a random
question. After all four team members have received their questions, the
process starts again for a second round of questions so that each team
member answers two Individual questions. The first Team member will
therefore answer questions 1 and 5, the second team member questions 2 and 6
and so on until the round is complete. Answers must be written on individual
pieces of paper and handed to the Question Master after thirty seconds and
before the next question is asked. The questions shall consist of one each
on the major sports and 3 general sport questions. Round 4 shall be a
Specialist Individual Round where the Question Master informs the teams of
the subject and the teams nominate an individual to answer that question. As
in Round 2, individuals shall approach the Question Master and receive their
question the answer to which must be written on an individual piece of paper
and handed back to the Question Master. The Round shall progress until each
team member has answered two questions. Thirty seconds shall be allowed for
each answer to be handed in and the questions shall consist of one each on
the major sports and 3 general sport questions. Round 3 shall be a Team
Round where the answer to the question shall be written within a time
duration given by the Question Compiler. At the end of the allotted time,
the answer sheet shall be exchanged with another team for marking. Scoring
in this round shall be 4 points for the team providing the most correct
answers, 3 points for the team providing the second most correct answers and
so on down to 0 points for the team providing the least correct answers.
After the quiz, League points shall be awarded to teams on the following
basis. The Team which wins the quiz shall receive 2 points which will be
added to their League points total. The team which finishes 2nd
shall receive 2 points which will be added to their League points total. The
team which finishes 3rd shall
receive 1 point which will be added to their League points total. The team
which finishes 4th shall receive 0 points which will be added to
their League points total. The team which finishes 5th shall
receive 0 points which will be added to their League points total. In the
event of two teams finishing the quiz on level points, a tie break question
shall be asked with the team winning the tie break filling the higher
position on the night and the other team finishing in the lower position.
The points awarded on the night will count towards the overall League Table
but there will be no count taken as far as League averages or Handicap
League positions are concerned. Therefore League averages and the Handicap
League will be based and decided on the standard eight League matches over
the season. The Quiz shall commence at 8:15

KO Cup
Dave Gutteridge has a potential question compiler for the KO Cup.
Mark Galloway has set Civil Service sports quizzes and Dave asked if he
would be willing to compile our KO Cup quiz. He said he would so Dave is
pursuing this. He has asked for a copy of last years quiz to send to Mark so
he can have an idea of the standard.
There is not another official Committee Meeting
arranged until the week before the AGM so it was proposed to fit another
meeting in sometime in early April. This will be arranged nearer the date.
Due to the lack of meetings the Chairman asked if Dave Westerby would
arrange the collection of trophies and engraving for the end of season AGM/Presentation
night. Dave said he would. The Chairman also asked all members to consider
any Rule Changes or Quiz Format changes for next season and to encourage
League Members to do the same. The Chairman will arrange the buffet for the
AGM and there will be the usual raffle with any prizes gratefully received.
