Pairs & Singles Competitions for 2008
Finals Night
2008 - Byker Key Club 15/5/08.
The 2008 Finals night was held at
Byker Key Club on Thursday 15th May, along with the KO Cup -

Open Singles: David Morrison
22 Neil Saint 17.
A close run game
saw Neil, in his 5th final, push Dave all the way, before Dave
clinched his 8th Open singles title.
Open Pairs:
Coughtrey & Morrison 23 Finch & Lowther 18.
Coughtrey and
Morrison clinched their first title together, deposing last years champions.
Div B Singles:
Paul Davison 16 Paul Lumsden 7.
After success in
the Div C singles last year, Paul D won the
Div B title for the second time - a long wait since his last Div B
win
in 1993!!
Div B Pairs:
Guttridge &
Lumsden 18 Doyle & Ford 10.
Dave & Paul won
their first title as a pairing beating John & Leo.
Div C Singles:
Brian Neil 19 Malcolm Bell 9.
Brian won the
first trophy to go to Mount Pleasant since they entered into the
League.
Div C Pairs:
Coxon & Swan 18 Bone & Bell 12
In the all St
Teresas final Jeff & John prevailed over their team-mates.
Overall an
excellent night - a fine evening of competition. Thank to all the
participants, but a special thanks to the question setters, without
whom there would be no event, for their efforts - Barry Wilkinson
for the Open Pairs, Dave Lowther for Division B, and John Doyle for
Division C.

and Singles are open to all players in the League, and qualifiers
were held at the Key Club, on 7th
February 2008.
Open Singles:-

Despite the
counter attraction of Valentines night the 'anoraks' were still out in force
at the Byker Key Club on 14th February for the popular Div B & C qualifier
night
- only one team from the two Divisions had no representation at all.
The Division B
events are open to all players from teams in Division B and the
questions were supplied by Mike Sowerby from Leeholme.
