The Pairs & Singles competitions took place at Saltwell Social Club on 28th November 2024. Results were as follows:

 

Competitors answered a 40 question paper and the top 4 went through to the semi-finals.

 

Singles: 

Neil Saint (Albert Hill) top scored with 30, Bryan White (Saltwell SC) scored 26, Barry Dodsworth (Albert Hill) got 22, while John Doyle (Key Club) & Kevin Turner (Saltwell SC) tied on 21 for the fourth qualifying spot, John winning the tie-break.

 The first semi-final saw Barry Dodsworth beat John Doyle 19-13, while Neil Saint defeated Bryan White 31-12.

 Pairs: 

Neil Saint & Mike Sowerby of Albert Hill were top qualifiers with 32, then came Kevin Turner & Bryan White (Saltwell SC) with 27, Dave Guttridge & Gareth Hope of The Bene with 24, and the fourth qualifying spot went to Barry Dodsworth & Brian Neil of Albert Hill with 23.

 In the semi-finals, Turner & White beat Dodsworth & Neil 24-21; Saint & Sowerby beat Guttridge & Hope 25-18.

 Drawn Pairs:

 The Drawn Pairs questionnaire saw Mike Sowerby paired with David Wood of The Bene, and they top scored with 29. The pairing of Gareth Hope & Neil Saint scored 28 and there was a tie for the other two spots with Brian Neil & Bryan White and Dave Guttridge & Kevin Turner scoring 22. 

In the semi-finals: two really close games saw Saint & Hope beat Neil & White on the sudden death question after a 21-21 draw, while Sowerby & Wood won on the last question beating Guttridge & Turner 20-19.

 A big hand went to Leo Ford who set all the questions for the night.

 

fFINALS NIGHT

 

Finals Night took place on 24th April 2025 at Saltwell Social Club.

 

The first event was the Knock Out Cup and the results were as follows:

 

1^st, Key Club (40+15) 55

2^nd, The Bene (42+9) 51

3^rd, Saltwell SC (42+8) 50

4^th, East End Nomads (32+16) 48

5^th, Albert Hill (47, Scratch) 47

6^th, St Teresa’s (25+19) 44

 

Drawn Pairs Final:

Gareth Hope (The Bene) & Neil Saint (Albert Hill) beat Mike Sowerby (Albert Hill) & David Wood (The Bene) 24-16

 

Pairs Final:

Neil Saint & Mike Sowerby (Albert Hill) beat Kevin Turner & Bryan White (Saltwell SC) 20-16

 

Singles Final:

Neil Saint (Albert Hill) beat Barry Dodsworth (Albert Hill) 24-15

 

Congratulations to all the winners, particularly Neil who claimed his first Singles title in his 10^th appearance in the final.
